A Recipe For Bliss Balls

August 7, 2020 By Paddy's Green Lemon Myrtle

Ingredients:

2 cups of dates

1 cup of nuts and seeds (mix it up for flavour and what you got in the pantry)

1 cup of shredded coconut

1/4-1/2 tsp of freshly ground lemon myrtle powder (to make the powder put a fair few dried leaves in a food processor and grind to a fine powder. It’s very strong when fresh, so adjust to freshness)

1 tbsp of water

Place everything in a food processor and blend until well combined.

Get some professional help, roll into balls and …

and enjoy!

How much to use?

When I started using essential oils, my expert friends told me to use a couple to a few drops in a vial (10ml) with a carrier oil, like jojoba, coconut or almond oil. Healing all sorts of ailments I have probably overdosed here and there, which never showed any side effect, but I obviously wasted money and none of the oils I bought were cheap.

Lemon Myrtle is one of the more expensive oils, but it is also very effective and very strong!

I can not stress enough to use lemon myrtle essential oil very very sparingly. The first thing I ever heard, was to use one drop of oil in 1 litre of carrier oil. I didn’t believe it at the time and I am still struggling with its super powers.

If someone in our house has any aliment, we use lemon myrtle oil straight away.

We have since used the essential oil successfully on warts, athletes foot, skin rash, skin lumps, cuts, gravel rash, irritation from sand flies and mosquito bites, animal bites and scratches, coughs and colds. We have a few vials -ready to go, ready to roll on- scattered throughout the house.

LM essential oil is a very strong oil and goes a long way!

Lemon Myrtle – Trend showing terrific potential

Have a look at Arnott’s Culinary Trend report for 2020.

“Lemon myrtle is pretty interesting because it’s not just a lemony taste that you get, but almost like a lemon cordial taste,” says Ben Devlin, chef at Cabarita Beach’s Halcyon House. “It’s quite sweet and aromatic, and when it’s fresh, a little will go a very long way to infuse a lot of flavour.”

“It’s perfect when you want a bit of a citrus flavour but without actually adding any acid to it,” says Ben. “It frees you up to use other forms of acid, maybe finger limes or vinegar, but you still get that distinctive lemony flavour. It’s a great way to round out a flavour profile.”

The Joys of Farm Life

Meet Myrtle – Our latest addition to the Farm

Farm Manager Dennis found her yesterday in one of the blocks that are getting ready to have the lemon myrtle trees planted. He rescued her from drowning after they flooded the place for some reason.

She is a female and possible pregnant… what joy for the kids!

“Isn’t she cute! Can we keep her?!”

We’ve been given 2 duckling some months ago and they started off small and cute – swimming in the pond. All of a sudden they are big and eating 3 x times as much as the chicken and making the most incredible mess. That’s were cute can get you. Luckily when our neighbour heard I was pondering to outsource (kill) them, she offered to have them back. That was easy! One big job less on my list! And we can now use the left over millet that we collected for the ducks from the summer cover crop (to improve soil quality for the lemon myrtle trees) for the mouse family.
